Studio and outdoor sessions (portrait, couple, maternity, family): no deposit is required, whatever the booking date. Full payment is made on the day of the session, on site.
Wedding: a 50% deposit is required when the contract is signed, and the balance is paid on the wedding day.
Events and video: any deposit and the payment schedule are set out in the quote. -
How do I order additional edited photos?
For Essential Portrait, Signature, Family, Révélation · introspective portrait and The Experience, you can add images during the on-site selection. Each additional final photo costs €50 incl. VAT. For the first four packages, it is delivered in colour or black and white, as you prefer; for The Experience · Studio & Outdoor, the €50 covers the colour version and its black-and-white version with advanced retouching. For reportage and quoted services, any additional images are priced before you order. -
Can I upgrade from Essential Portrait to Signature Portrait?
Yes. Upgrading to Signature Portrait adds €200 incl. VAT. It is best to arrange this in advance. On the day itself, it is only possible if the next slot is still free, so availability is never guaranteed. The decision must be made before the final selection. -
Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes. The gift voucher can be ordered directly online: choose Essential Portrait · €290, Signature Portrait · €490 or The Experience · Studio & outdoors · €990, then pay securely via Stripe (card or Bancontact). These names help you choose the value to give; the final service can be freely chosen, for private and business clients alike. The personalised PDF is usually received by email within a few minutes of payment confirmation. To use it, the recipient emails me before booking, quoting their code: I check the voucher and confirm the appointment and the amount applied directly. The online calendar does not apply gift codes automatically. The voucher is valid for 12 months. An extension may be granted on request before the expiry date, subject to my agreement, for a maximum of 6 months. A consumer has, in principle, 14 days to withdraw, by a simple email. After this period, the voucher is neither refundable nor exchangeable for cash, unless mandatory law provides otherwise. If it has already been used within the 14 days, the consequences depend on the state of performance and the consents given; see the Terms and Conditions.Order a gift voucher -
Is there a surcharge on Saturdays or public holidays?
No, no surcharge. The studio welcomes you by appointment only, Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 6 pm, at the same rates, and is closed on Sundays. Weddings and events (which often take place at weekends) carry no surcharge either: the price quoted is all-inclusive.
Before the session
Preparation, clothing and bringing someone along: everything you need to feel at ease when you arrive.

What outfit should I bring for my photo session?
Choose plain colours that flatter your complexion, and avoid busy patterns or visible logos. Essential Portrait and Family allow for 1 to 2 outfits. Signature Portrait and Révélation · introspective portrait allow for 1 to 3. These limits are part of the pace of the session, selection included. If in doubt, contact me before your appointment: I can advise you based on your project. -
Are makeup and hair styling included?
They are not included by default but can be added as an option:
• Make-up artist at the studio: from €50
• Hairdresser at the studio: from €50
I work with trusted partners whom I can recommend. Please arrange this when booking so that schedules can be coordinated. -
Can I bring someone with me to the studio?
Yes, someone close to you can come along to help you feel at ease, provided you let me know. The number of people photographed remains that of the package: 1 to 2 for Essential, 1 to 4 for Signature, 5 to 6 for Family, 1 for Révélation · introspective portrait and 1 to 2 for The Experience. For a family of more than 6 people, please ask for a quote. -
How young can a child be for a photo session?
All ages are possible, from newborns (ideally within the first 15 days, for deep sleep) to teenagers. With babies and toddlers, I adapt to their rhythm: no pressure, and we take breaks if needed. For family sessions with children, I create a relaxed, playful atmosphere so that smiles are natural, never forced.Family photo session -

How long does a session last?
For the five session packages below, the stated duration includes the shoot and the final on-site selection:
• Essential Portrait: 45 minutes
• Signature Portrait: 1 hour 30
• Family: 1 hour 30
• Révélation · introspective portrait: 2 hours
• The Experience · Studio & Outdoor: two separate dates of 1 hour 30 each
For other services, the schedule and any selection time are as set out on the service page or in the quote:
• Wedding: L’Essentielle up to 8 hours, La Signature up to 12 hours or L’Intégrale for the full day
• Corporate, events and training: duration confirmed in the quote. -
How many outfit changes can I make?
Essential Portrait and Family allow 1 to 2 outfits. Signature Portrait and Révélation · introspective portrait allow 1 to 3 outfits. Changing time is included in the total duration, as is the final selection, so it is best to prepare your outfits in advance. A private space is available at the studio. -
I'm not photogenic, what should I do?
It is something I hear often, and the answer is simple: being photogenic is something you can build with the right light, the right pose and a photographer who knows how to put you at ease. I take the time to guide you and show you what works, and I also let you be yourself. The aim is not for you to pose perfectly, but for the photo to reflect who you are. Most clients who say they are “not photogenic” are the most surprised by the final result. -
How does the artistic direction work?
Before the session: we talk about your project, what you like and the references that speak to you. I listen, take notes and prepare.
During the session: I take the lead and guide you pose by pose, light by light. I regularly show you the images on screen so we can fine-tune together. Once you are at ease, I also know how to fade into the background and let emotions come through naturally. A little staging, a lot of natural ease: that is my signature style. -
Can I bring personal accessories?
Absolutely. Your favourite jewellery, a treasured book, a musical instrument, a signature item of clothing or a childhood soft toy: any object that means something to you can enrich your photographs. For couple sessions, objects that tell your story, such as a letter, a photograph or a gift, often create the most moving images. The studio also has props that you are welcome to use. -
Can I see the photos during the session?
Yes. I regularly show you the images on screen throughout the session, so we can adjust poses, expressions and angles. For Essential Portrait, Signature Portrait, Family, Révélation and The Experience, we make the final selection together on site, within the stated session duration. Except for The Experience, you also choose between colour and black and white. For event coverage and services provided on a quote basis, the selection method is specified in the service description or quote.

How can I request an adjustment after delivery?
Send the reference number of each photograph concerned and describe the adjustment you would like as precisely as possible. I will check with you whether it falls within the retouching included in your service or involves additional work. In the latter case, we agree on the price and timing before any work begins. To make follow-up easier, please gather all your comments in a single message. -
Can I order a print or a large enlargement?
Yes. Tell me which photograph you have chosen, the dimensions you would like and the print material you have in mind. I will check the file resolution and framing, as a format such as 60 × 80 cm may require cropping. The paper or material, finishes, price and delivery time are confirmed before you order. Prints are not included in a digital package unless explicitly stated. -
What should I do if my gallery link no longer works?
Write to me with the name used for the booking, the session date and the error message you encountered. I will check access and the availability of the retouched files. These are retained for up to one year after delivery; resending them remains subject to their availability. Download your photographs as soon as you receive them and keep a copy on a second storage device. -
What is the delivery time for photos?
Indicative delivery times by service type:
• Sessions (portrait, couple, maternity, family, individual corporate portrait, Révélation and The Experience, in the studio or outdoors): 7 to 10 days
• Standard event or evening coverage: 5 to 7 working days
• Corporate or event assignments with a large volume of images: 2 to 4 weeks, as specified in the quote
• Property photography: 24 to 48 hours
• Virtual tour: delivery time confirmed in the quote
• Wedding: the complete gallery is delivered within 8 to 16 weeks. For a full day, generally expect 300 to 600 edited high-resolution photographs. -
How many photos will I receive?
• Essential Portrait: 5 final photographs
• Signature Portrait, Family and Révélation · introspective portrait: 10 final photographs
• The Experience · Studio & outdoors: 20 distinct images, with 10 selected after each appointment, delivered in both colour and black and white with advanced retouching, making 40 files
• Wedding: for a full day, generally 300 to 600 retouched high-resolution photographs.
For the four packages held on a single date, each final image is chosen in either colour or black and white. For these four packages and The Experience, each additional image costs €50 including VAT, with the stated finish. Other services follow their service description or quote. -
How are photos selected?
For Essential Portrait, Signature Portrait, Family, Révélation and The Experience, we select the photographs together on site, within the stated session duration. I show you the photographs and you choose which ones will be retouched. For The Experience, 10 images are selected after each of the two sessions. The online gallery is then used to deliver the retouched files; it is not a preselection gallery. For event coverage and services provided on a quote basis, the selection method follows the service description or quote. -
Is photo editing included?
Yes, all delivered photographs are professionally edited: colour balance (colour grading), exposure and lighting, skin texture, and removal of temporary blemishes (spots, marks). The editing is deliberately natural: the aim is to show you at your best, not to transform you. If you would like more extensive retouching (tattoo removal, body alterations), this is available by quotation. -
Can I receive unselected photographs (RAW files)?
RAW files are not delivered for sessions or reportage, unless agreed in writing beforehand. For a workshop, the RAW files from the training are made available to you. Unselected images and their RAW files are kept for no more than 30 days after delivery, then deleted. This short period allows any processing issue to be resolved while limiting retention. For Essential Portrait, Signature, Family, Révélation and The Experience, we select the images together on site before the end of each appointment; all selected photographs then go for editing. For other services, the selection method is as stated in the service description or quote. -
What am I allowed to do with my photos?
You receive your photographs in high resolution with an included personal-use licence: prints for you and your loved ones, non-commercial sharing on your social media and use on your personal website. Hani Kanaftchian retains copyright.
For commercial use such as advertising, magazines or business communications outside the original service, an appropriate licence must be arranged. Corporate sessions already include the professional uses defined in the booking confirmation or quote. -
Do you use my photos on your site / Instagram?
No photograph is published on my website or social media without your explicit consent. Refusing consent changes neither the price nor the service. If you have consented and later change your mind, you may withdraw your consent by email; the photographs concerned will be removed from my channels within a reasonable time. -
How long do you keep my photos (GDPR)?
Retention periods depend on the purpose:Privacy policy
• Delivered retouched photographs: up to 1 year after delivery, so they can be supplied to the client again.
• Unselected RAW files: a maximum of 30 days after delivery, then deleted.
• Booking data and client correspondence: a maximum of 3 years after the last interaction, unless a longer period is necessary for contractual or litigation purposes.

Do you photograph weddings abroad?
Yes, I regularly cover weddings abroad. I have photographed ceremonies in France, Italy, Greece, Morocco, Lebanon and further afield. My standard wedding package is all-inclusive within Brussels’ 19 municipalities. For a wedding abroad, travel, accommodation and meal costs are payable in addition to the package. A personalised quotation is provided according to the destination. -
Can I have a second photographer for my wedding?
Yes: a second photographer can be added for €890. They provide additional photographic coverage; an assistant helps with organisation and equipment and does not replace a second photographer. This is particularly useful for large weddings or for covering both partners’ preparations at the same time. You can also add a wedding film from €1,500, or a mobile photo studio for the evening (+€390). -

Yes, I offer corporate sessions at the studio in Uccle or at your premises, in Brussels or elsewhere in Belgium. Cancellation & policy
Clear conditions to cancel or postpone with peace of mind.
-
How can I cancel or reschedule a studio session?
For a standard session, cancellation or rescheduling is free of charge up to and including exactly 24 hours before the session. With less than 24 hours’ notice or in the event of a no-show, no amount is charged automatically. Reasonable compensation may be requested only up to the amount of the actual direct loss demonstrated, after deducting any savings and taking account of the slot being rebooked, if applicable. Force majeure situations are assessed individually. -
What is the cancellation policy for a wedding?
For weddings, the Terms and Conditions set maximum cancellation charges based on how long before the wedding you cancel: up to the deposit amount more than 90 days before, up to 75% of the total between 90 and 30 days before, and up to 100% less than 30 days before. The compensation actually requested remains limited to the proven and reasonably foreseeable direct loss, after deducting services not provided, costs saved and income received if the date is booked by someone else. In the event of documented force majeure, a postponement may be offered under the Terms and Conditions. -
What happens if the weather is bad for an outdoor session?
For outdoor sessions, rescheduling is free in genuinely adverse weather, such as heavy rain or storms. I am flexible, and we agree on a new date together. For event coverage and weddings, however, the service goes ahead: the date is fixed, and I adapt to the conditions with professional equipment, including flash lighting and equipment protection. That is part of being experienced: a wedding in the rain can produce beautiful photographs. -
What happens in the event of illness or force majeure?
Each duly substantiated case of illness, accident, bereavement or other force majeure is assessed individually. Depending on the circumstances and availability, rescheduling at no charge may be offered; for weddings, the specific provisions in the Terms and Conditions apply. My aim is to find a balanced solution without treating supporting documentation as grounds for an automatic penalty. -
How do you manage complaints or disputes?
If any part of the service does not meet your expectations, contact me directly upon delivery. I take the time to listen to your feedback, review the situation with you and seek a suitable solution within the scope of the service and the Terms and Conditions. If we cannot reach an amicable agreement, you can contact the Consumer Mediation Service free of charge; Belmed can also direct you towards an appropriate dispute-resolution route.

My aim is for you to rediscover your most meaningful stories through photographs that truly reflect who you are. -

Choosing the right photographer in Brussels
Objective advice to make the right choice, beyond Hani Kanaftchian.
-
How do I choose a professional photographer in Brussels?
A few criteria to consider:
1. A consistent portfolio: look at several complete sessions, not just the highlights. The style should be consistent.
2. Independent reviews: read the Google reviews published on the business’s profile, as well as the selected testimonials on its website.
3. Transparent prices and quotations: standard packages should be clear, and bespoke projects should be priced before you commit.
4. A professional studio or just equipment: a well-equipped studio allows the photographer to control the light whatever the conditions.
5. Responsiveness: stating a response time and keeping to it is a good sign of organisation.
6. A written contract: essential for weddings and substantial assignments. -
What is the average price of a photographer in Brussels?
Brussels market price ranges in 2026:
• Studio portrait session: €300 to €900 (Hani Kanaftchian: Essential €290 incl. VAT, Signature €490 incl. VAT)
• Wedding: €1,500 to €4,500 depending on duration and services. Hani Kanaftchian: €1,900 incl. VAT for up to 8 hours, €2,400 for up to 12 hours and €2,700 for the full day
• Corporate: €400 to €1,200 depending on duration (Hani Kanaftchian: individual portraits from €490 excl. VAT; corporate reportage from €690 excl. VAT)
• Property photography: €250 to €800 (Hani Kanaftchian: from €390 excl. VAT)
The differences reflect experience, studio facilities, duration, the number of photographs delivered and retouching time. -
When should you book your photographer?
Recommended booking lead times:See my available slots
• Wedding: 6 to 12 months before the date. Dates from May to September book up quickly.
• Portrait or couple session: 2 to 4 weeks before your preferred date.
• Maternity: around the 7th month, with the date adapted to your comfort. Get in touch a few weeks ahead so we can choose the right time together.
• Family (with children): 3 to 4 weeks ahead, ideally outside school holidays.
• Corporate and events: 4 to 8 weeks ahead.
Available slots for portrait, couple, maternity, family and individual corporate portrait sessions at the studio are shown in real time in the online calendar. Corporate teams and wedding, event, property, sport, workshop or 360° tour projects require a quote request so that availability and requirements can be confirmed. -
Studio or outdoors: which is better?
Both have their strengths, and they are different types of session:
Studio: fully controlled lighting, no dependence on the weather, an intimate setting, varied backdrops and comfort. Ideal for personal or professional portraits, corporate and maternity photography.
Outdoors: varied settings, natural light, a lively atmosphere, more spontaneity and a location that means something to you. Ideal for couples, families, weddings and engagement sessions.
My advice: the studio is particularly well suited to personal or professional portraits. Outdoors is excellent for telling a story involving two or more people.
