It all began in 2013
I discovered photography as a language. Every face has a story, every expression is a moment we will never see again. I opened my Brussels studio with one thought in mind: helping people feel comfortable in front of the lens, because a photograph is first and foremost about a person, not just a face.
My philosophy
I believe a good photograph isn't about equipment or a rigid pose. It's about a connection. My role is to create a setting where you forget the camera and feel like yourself again. The rest, the light, composition and retouching, is my job. I'll take care of it.
An approach that keeps evolving
Over the years, and with more than 2,000 clients I have worked with, I have refined a method that combines technical precision (controlled Broncolor lighting, fine retouching) with listening. Every session begins with 10 minutes of conversation. For Essential Portrait, these are added to the 45-minute session, selection included. A preliminary conversation is also offered, with no obligation. We talk, we often laugh, and only then do I take out the camera. It is in this order that the best images come about.
Today
Hani Kanaftchian is a 60 m² studio on Rue Vanderkindere in Uccle, for portrait, corporate, family, maternity and newborn sessions. For weddings and events, I travel throughout Belgium and abroad. Above all, it's a promise: you'll leave with photographs that truly feel like you, with every project receiving the same care and attention.
