Family session

An approach designed for children

Photographing a family starts with respecting the children's pace. No stiff poses or forced “smile for the camera”. I let the little ones explore the studio, play with them and photograph them as they move. Natural expressions come when everyone relaxes. With babies, we work around naps and feeds. With teenagers, we keep the guidance relaxed.

Studio or outdoors

The studio offers comfort and carefully controlled light, ideal in winter, with young children or for timeless portraits. Outdoors, I know lovely family locations in Brussels: Bois de la Cambre, the Ixelles ponds, the Sonian Forest and Tournay-Solvay Park. We choose together to suit the season, your children and the photographs you have in mind.

Prints and keepsakes

Would you like a portrait to frame or give to the grandparents? Tell me the size and where it will be displayed before the session so I can plan the framing accordingly. The package includes the files described in the offer; prints, enlargements and photo books are ordered separately. The material, price and delivery time are confirmed before you order.

  • How much does a family session cost in Brussels?
    Up to 4 people, choose Signature Portrait at €490 incl. VAT in the studio (€590 outdoors). For 5 to 6 people, the Family formula costs €590 incl. VAT in the studio (€690 outdoors). For more than 6 people, the session is organized on request. The price includes the session, final selection on site, retouching, private online gallery and personal usage rights.
  • How long does a family session last?
    The family session lasts 1h30. This duration includes the shooting and your final selection on site. The number of outfits and people depends on the formula chosen.
  • How many photos will I receive?
    You receive 10 final photographs in high resolution through a private gallery, each in your choice of colour or black and white. Every image is carefully edited. Each additional photograph costs €50 incl. VAT, in your choice of colour or black and white.
  • How do payment and cancellation work?
    No deposit is required for these private sessions, regardless of when you book: payment is due in full on the day. Cancellation or rescheduling is free up to and including exactly 24 hours before the session. With less than 24 hours' notice, or if you do not attend, no amount is charged automatically. Reasonable compensation may only be requested for direct loss actually demonstrated, after deducting any savings and taking account of any rebooking of the slot. Cases of force majeure are considered individually.
  • Where does the session take place?
    Your session can take place at Hani Kanaftchian's studio in Uccle (Rue Vanderkindere 524), or outdoors in Brussels for an additional €100 incl. VAT. We choose the location together before the session.
  • Do you offer gift vouchers?
    Yes. Order your voucher on the Gift voucher page, then choose Essential Portrait · €290, Signature Portrait · €490 or The Experience · Studio & outdoors · €990. These titles are benchmarks of value; the recipient is free to choose their session. Payment is made via Stripe (card or Bancontact) and the personalized PDF generally arrives by email within a few minutes after confirmation. To use it, the beneficiary writes to me before booking indicating their code; I check the voucher and directly confirm the appointment and the amount applied. The online calendar does not automatically apply gift codes. The voucher is valid for 12 months; an extension can be granted on request before the deadline, subject to my agreement, for a maximum of 6 months. A consumer can in principle withdraw within 14 days, by simple email. After this period, the voucher is neither refundable nor convertible into cash, unless otherwise required. If it has already been used within 14 days, the consequences depend on the state of execution and the consents given; see the T&Cs.
  • Can our pet join the family session?
    Yes, dogs and cats are welcome. Let me know before the session and tell me who will attend so I can prepare the space and the portraits you want. We work at a pace that suits the children and the pet. For an outdoor session, we choose the location together according to its access rules.
  • Can we plan a family session around an idea or a sketch?
    Yes, you can send me an idea, a sketch or a few visual references to help plan the lighting, outfits and composition. Specify the number of participants and how the images will be used, especially for an artistic project or exhibition. We confirm feasibility, the package and the agreed uses before booking.
  • How can we prepare the children for a family photo session?
    If possible, choose a time that fits around naps and meals. Simply explain that you will spend some time together and take photos, without asking the children to keep smiling. Bring their favourite comfort toy and comfortable clothes. Let me know their ages and needs when we prepare the session.
  • Can the grandparents join us?
    Yes. Count everyone attending, including children and grandparents, when choosing your package: Signature Portrait for up to 4 people, Family for 5 to 6 people, and a bespoke quotation for larger groups. Let me know which groups you would like photographed together so we can plan the session and choose a suitable location.
